Daniel Barenboim, Music Director of the Teatro alla Scala

From the 1st of December 2011 Daniel Barenboim will serve as Music Director of the Teatro alla Scala.
Maestro Barenboim takes on this commitment with La Scala until December 31st 2016; he will be involved for 15 weeks a year (about four months) preparing operas, concerts and tours.
It is a source of satisfaction and pride to the General Manager Stéphane Lissner the establishment of a close relationship with one of the greatest conductors of our time, who has given a tremendous impulse to the Theatre during the last five years of collaboration. With this choice Daniel Barenboim has made an important decision for his activities at the international level.
An extensive European project will arise from this new collaboration; it will strengthen the Scala from the inside while opening new perspectives for the Theatre on the international scene.
